Nate is currently a senior in high school. He has been homeschooled for his entire life. Because of the flexibility that he gains from homeschooling, he has been able to participate in various extracurricular activities while still excelling in school.
High School Student (2006 – 2010)
Achievements
- Scored 2150 out of 2400 on the SAT. I got 800 on the writing section – the highest score possible!
- Learned valuable writing skills. I took two intensive writing classes that helped me learn to write logically, grammatically, and engagingly.
- Played violin in an string ensemble. For about three years, I participated in an ensemble with five other young men. During that time, we performed at a few events, such as the local ALERT Cadet award ceremony, and recorded one CD.
- Developed important business skills. During high school, I started more than six businesses including Debt-free Scholar (a college help blog), Nate’s Lawn Care (a small yard care business), and Family Reading Reviews (a book review website).
- Learned some coding. While I build the websites for my many businesses, I gathered a working knowledge of coding. In addition to a good understanding of HTML, I know enough to work with CSS and basic Javascript.
